History & Future of the Book
History & Future of the Book, a half-block class taught by Jessy Randall and Steve Lawson. In this project, The End (2024), students considered what might happen at the last printing press at the end of civilization as we know it, when books are being destroyed…including what materials might still be available in the scrap pile, which typefaces they might find, and what cryptic messages they might want to convey to any future humans.

Cultures of the Book (History 105), taught by Carol Neel in the fall semester of 2012. A bestiary of real and imaginary animals. Text and images by the students in the class: Lauren Hahn, Alison Rowe, Patty Weicht, Dontene Bonnet, X. Fehsenfeld, Nick Dye, Sarah Cohen, Rhys Louis, Gabe De La Rosa, Will Baker, Robbie Adler, Caitlin Canty, Collin Hartland, Sumner Crosby, and Mohammed Mia.
