Book & Book Structure (Art Studio 226) taught by visiting instructor Alisa Banks in Spring 2025. This class was focused around research and reconciliation related to cotton — a material closely tied to the book arts, but with a varied and problematic history. Students made three types of cotton paper and created broadsides and a collaborative book around the topic.
Book & Book Structure: Small Press Publishing (Art Studio 226), taught by visiting lecturer Matvei Yankelevich in the spring semester of 2012. A one-day collaborative zine. Each student had one hour to respond to the prompt “small press/little maga/chap/artist book/zine” with 4 finished pages. The students in the class were: Christa Carroll, Lacey Carter, Deborah Detchon, Leslie Jacoby, Laura Martin, Hollis Moore, Madalyn Rilling, Katie Smith, Jessica Tréanton, Kate Vukovich, Hailey Walsh, and Renee Wooley.
The covers are letterpress printed from metal type, and the interior pages are photocopied from the original artwork produced by the students. Pamphlet stitch, 28 pages, edition of 100.
