SLEEP PARALYSIS

Sleep Paralysis is dos-a-dos artists’ book featuring two small dream-poems, or sueñitos, by Colorado poet Juan J. Morales. Through dreamscape, this piece shines a light on the paralyzing anxiety of a time of increased surveillance. Morales’s eerie narrative evokes the feeling of being watched, monitored, and terrorized, even while we are asleep.

Designed, printed, and bound by Jillian Sico, Max Blair Houston, and Perry Davis, Spring 2026.

Dos-a-dos with sewn-in sections, with slipcase. 4.5” x 9” (closed).

The text is letterpress printed from photopolymer plates and metal type. The images are printed from photopolymer plates and linoleum cut. The paper is Neenah UV Ultra II and Via laid.

Juan J. Morales is the son of an Ecuadorian mother and Puerto Rican father and the author of four poetry collections. He lives in Pueblo, Colorado and is an Assistant Professor at Colorado College.
